Previously known at the
Kingston Tup (which was pretty nondescript), the newly refurbished Bar 88 has gone with a fresher contemporary feel. A few things remain, the bar hasn't moved and there's a huge unsightly hole / fireplace in the wall which must have some kind of dodgy preservation order on it because it doesn't fit with the rest of the decor at all. There's a pool table and a quiz machine at the back and the barman is freaky tall.
A pleasant place, but doesn't really stand out as somewhere I'd keep coming back to.

Closed down in the late 2010s. I can't explain why it was so unsuccessful in its last few years as it's a roomy place near the town centre. It's been refurbished, the old extension demolished and a new one added, and turned into a hotel.
